To set up a Pathway LMS course, instructors can fill out Basic Course Settings during the process of creating a new course. They can also edit the settings from the course settings gear and select Basic Course Settings.
This article will explain three important settings that are unique to the Pathway LMS.
1. Course Completion Deadline
If a Pathway course is self-paced, instructors or course designers may want to set up a deadline for the learners to complete the course within a certain time period.
By default, there isn't such a deadline. Learners can complete activities and the course anytime.
The option "within set number of days" allows instructors to define a number, such as 30 or 90, for each learner to complete the course after joining it. This option works when learners join a course at different times.
The option "before a specific date" allows instructors to select a specific date and apply it to all of the learners.
2. Progress Setting
By default, a CN Pathway course opens up all of the activities. Learns can choose to access and complete activities in their preferred order.
When instructors switched to the other option, learners will have to complete activities in sequential order. They are not be able to access future activities if any previous activities left incomplete.
3. Default Page for Learner
Pathway course instructors can also decide which page learners see when they enter a course. Course activities is the default page view.
It looks like below with course activity path on the left and the detail of the current activity on the right.
Instructors may choose "Post feed" as the default page.
If "Post feed" is selected, learners will see the course post feed upon entering the course. This page view promotes social discussion and community building within the course.
