Hashtags provide an effective way of labeling and filtering posts based on topics, enhancing social discussion experiences and student engagement. By leveraging generative AI, CN now supports automated hashtagging for course posts.
Important Logic
1. Currently, automated hashtagging is only available for course posts. We may expand it to Network and Home posts in the future.
2. 1-2 automated hashtags that summarize the general theme of a course post are added when:
- the post has 50 or more words
- the post does not already have any hashtags
3. After submitting a post, users must refresh the page to see the automated hashtags added at the end of the post.
4. If a course has instructor-suggested hashtags, the relevant ones are prioritized to label posts, then are hashtags already being used in the course, brand new AI-generated hashtags are the last resort. This logic is to maximize the accuracy and efficiency of hashtags in each course.

Disable Automated Hashtagging
By default, this feature is available to all CN courses.
First, institution admins have the option to disable this feature in all Channel courses from CN Channel>>Rumi>>Settings. Read this article to learn how.
Course instructors can disable or re-enable this feature for their course from Post Settings.
