If you haven't prepared a self-created custom certificate template, please first follow this article to get it ready. This article will show you how to upload the certificate template to CN and issue it to your members. Please note that this feature is only available to institutions that have purchased this advanced feature. Contact the CN Team if your institution hopes to access this feature.
Manually CSV Issue Certificate
STEP1: Head into CN Channel, select the “Badges, Certificates and Transcripts” tab from the left-hand menu, and select "Certificates".
STEP2: Click on “Create/Issue Certificates from Template”, then select “Create Certificate from Template”. Select the radio button that corresponds with your choice, in this case, we will choose “Use Self-Created Template”.
STEP3: Select “Upload Certificate” and upload your prepared certificate PDF file.
STEP4: Make sure that there is a name for the certificate as CN will not let you continue without adding a name. Once you have uploaded your certificate and added a name to the “Certificate Name” box, you can now press “Save” to confirm.
STEP5: Now, you have successfully uploaded a self-created custom certificate. It is ready to be awarded manually.
STEP6: Prepare a CSV file that provides data for each recipient on identified fields. An example of the CSV file with all possible fields entered looks like below.
Note, 1. the field titles must be exactly the same as in the example. 2. Not all fields entered in the .csv below are required, but Email Address is a must-have to identify users. 3. If the date format on the .csv file isn't what you want, for example, you want to display Feb 14, 2023, you should make sure the column's data format is "Text" and you simply type Feb 14, 2023 and save the .csv file. Open the file up again may lead to an auto change of the data format in some software, such as Microsoft Excel. We suggest that you open the file with the Notes tool on your computer to review the saved .csv file.
STEP7: Once you have prepared your CSV file, look for the trophy icon to the right side of the certificate that you would like to award. Click the trophy Icon to continue!
STEP8: At this stage, you now need to import the CSV file to CN. Drag the CSV file you have prepared or click "browse" to find the file on your computer.
STEP9: Make note of the file name you would like to use to award the certificate by confirming the name matches with your desired file. If the file name matches with the desired file for administering the certificate, simply press the blue "Next" button to continue.
STEP10: At this stage, you want to make sure that every identified PDF form field is showing, if you spelled "Message" as "message" for example, that field would not show here. Please double-check your spelling and capitalization on the of the fields as they are case-sensitive. Click the blue "Confirm" button if the data looks as it should!
STEP11: That's it! You have successfully issued your self-created custom certificate. Please refresh your page and refer back to the issued certificate section and "RECIPIENTS" should be updated with the total number of certificates that were issued.
