STEP 1: Create your free personal CN account on thecn.com
*If you need additional help, read this step-by-step account creation guide.
STEP 2: Create a course site. Click "COURSES" from the top navigation bar, then choose "Create a Course/Network"
There are two course types for you to use: Classic LMS course and Pathway LMS course. The Classic LMS course suits instructor-led online courses, whereas the Pathway LMS course suits self-paced online training courses.
Every CN user is allowed to create one free personal course (of each type) and unlimited paid personal courses. Read this article to learn more about personal course payment.
After choosing a course type, please follow the instructions to provide course information and finish creating the course site.
STEP 3: Build your course
If you choose to build a Classic LMS course:
After your Classic LMS course site is created, make posts in your course telling your students what to do. You can also use the Task Tool to define activities students are expected to complete. You could name tasks as Lesson 1, Lesson 2, ...or Week 1, Week 2, ...or based on the course topics.
You may join this open course (thecn.com/1150756) for course design ideas.
If you choose to build a Pathway LMS course:
After your Pathway LMS course site is created, simply follow the instructions on the screen to write the Course Introduction, and create lessons and activities one by one on the course pathway. You can also set up lesson completion badges and course completion awards. The Pathway LMS courses streamline learning content and tasks in a very straightforward fashion. Students can easily complete learning activities on their own.

*Invite students to your course:
When you are ready to add students to your course, simply share the course URL along with the course PIN (if you have set up one) with your students. When students go to the course URL, they follow instructions to create a free CN account and join your course.
The course URL and course PIN can both be found on the About page from the left course menu.
