The Global Class feature allows students who enrolled in similar courses on CN the opportunity to extend learning outside of their own classroom, school or country. Global Classmates can share relevant resources, make reflections, rate each other’s posts and even follow one another to build and extend their academic network. As an instructor, you need to set up the Global Class.
Part1: Instructors Set up Global Class
When an instructor creates a personal course on the full CN, the Global Class settings are the third step of the course creation process. At any time, you can follow the following steps to edit Global Class settings.
STEP1: Click on the course settings gear icon next to the course name, go to Global Class Settings
STEP2:
Option1: Connect your course with courses of the same subject, simply select a relevant course category from this dropdown (you may select more than one if necessary)
HINT: To suggest a general course category that is not included on this list, please email help@thecn.com
Option2: Connect your course with specific courses, for example: a colleague’s course or courses within a special program, choose “Other” from the bottom of the list. Then type your unique course category into the field such as “ANU Capstone Engineering Program“, and apply this self-defined category name in each of the courses that will be connected.
HINT: If you do not want connect your course with any other courses, simply select “Other” from the bottom of the list, name a personal category and do not share it with other course instructors.
Part2: Post to Global Class
STEP1: Click on the post button within your course at the top of the page and type content
STEP2: For the visibility settings, select “This Course and Global Class” from the drop-down menu and submit
HINT: If you post course-specific content, choose the visibility setting "This Course"; if you are posting non-course specific content, share it with your Global Classmates, choose "This Course and Global Class". We also suggest using hashtags to label your discussion topics. This will help global peers easily find posts that interest them.

STEP1: Click the “Global Posts” tab from the left course menu
STEP2: Then easily view, rate, and reflect on posts.
