At this moment, CN sends three types of notifications to users: email notifications, web push notifications, and Slack notifications. Email notifications are sent to the primary email connected to your CN account. You do not need to set it up but can modify the default frequency settings. Web push notifications and Slack notifications need you to set up -- please find the instructions below.
Modify Notification Frequency
The frequency of each type of notification can be adjusted following these three steps:
STEP 1: Access Notification Settings.
If you are on full CN, click the account settings gear icon located in the upper-right corner of the site, then select "Notification Settings". This will take you to the CN Notification Settings page.
If you are using CN Post or CN ePortfolio as an LTI plug-in, you can access the Notification Settings page from the left menu.
STEP 2: Modify the frequency of each notification to what you prefer.
- There are four options for most of the email notifications: Immediately, Daily, Weekly, and Never.
- There are two options for web push notifications and Slack notifications: Immediate and Never.
SETP3: Once done, remember to click Save All at the bottom of the table.
Note: you can restore to the default settings from the link above the Save All button.
Web Push Notifications
Web push notifications pop up CN updates on your desktop screen or on the home screen of your phone. They work slightly differently depending on the web browser and device you use.
