Institution admins can create their own grade conversion types for their course instructors to use when grading.
Create a grade conversion type in CN Channel
To add a grade conversion type, go to CN Channel>>Settings & Controls and find the "Course/Network Settings" section. At the bottom of this section, you’ll find "Add Grade Conversion types". The four default grade conversion types from CN are displayed here. Click on the + Create One link to start creating a new conversion type.
This is the Add Grade Conversion window. On this window, enter a name for the new grade conversion type, then add the grades and minimum percentage of each grade. Click on the plus sign icon to the right of the Minimum % column to add more grades.
This is an example of a finished grade conversion. We named it "Institution-Wide Grade Conversion". Yours should be more specific. Click the SAVE button once you’re finished.
Your new grade conversion will appear at the bottom of the list, above the + Create One button. You can always edit or delete any grade conversion types that have been created in your Channel.
Instructors apply the grade conversion type
The newly created grade conversion type should now appear in every course under your Channel. There are two places where course instructors can find the grade conversion:
- from instructor GradeBook page>>Edit Grade Conversion
Instructors can’t edit grade conversion types created by their institution. They can use this window to view the institution-set grade conversion scales.
2. from Edit Grade Display Type for each GradeBook item
Assignment scores in CN are automatically released to students. But instructors may click the gear icon of a GradeBook item (including final course Grade) anytime, and choose "Edit Grade Display Type" to apply a grade conversion.
Instructors may select a grade conversion created by their institution from the dropdown as the grade display type.
