LTI v1.3 requires that the integration between the LMS and external tools like CourseNetworking(CN) is based on a trust created through OAuth 2.0. This integration process includes the following steps:
Step 1: In the LMS, configure this LTI1.3 tool from the admin page.
Step 2: In the LMS, enable this LTI1.3 tool by creating links.
Step 3: Reach out to your CN account manager or contact person to complete the configuration.
Step1: Prepare for Institution-level Configuration
1. . Log into D2L Brightspace and select"Manage Extensibility" in the admin menu.
2. Select"LTI Advantage," followed by"Register Tool."
3. Select"Standard" on the next page (see the screenshot below).
4. You should see a form to fill out. Enter the name of the tool: CN ePortfolio LTI1.3. The values of other fields are as below:
5. Check off all Extensions and select"send Institution role." Hit Save.
6. You’ll now see a list of information that you will refer to later when completing the integration.
Example:
7. Then, create a new Deployment for the tool by clicking"view deployments" at the bottom of the page, followed by“new deployment.”
8. Select the tool you just created from the dropdown menu. Name the tool, select all extensions, and select all boxes below besides"Anonymous."
9. Under configuration settings, select"Open as an External Resource."
10. Add the tool to the appropriate Org Units that will be using the tool.
11. Click Create Deployment, and you’ll see a deployment ID pop-up, which is another information you will need to send to the CN team later on.

Step 2: Enable CN ePortfolio LTI1.3
Creating Links
Note: You can follow the steps below to add this LTI1.3 tool at the root/account level of your D2L. This enables a one-time setup so you won't need to reinstall the app with each new course/semester.
1. From the previous deployment page, click on "View Links".
These newly created links can be used to insert links and assignments as Course Content into a Brightspace (D2L) course.

Step 3: Contact the CN Team
Establishing trust between the LMS and CN ePortfolio LTI1.3 requires configuration on the CN side as well. After you have completed the steps above, please reach out to your CN account manager or contact person with the following information which you can refer from steps 6 and 11:
Once the entire configuration is completed, you may start testing and using it now.
To make it available to a course:
1. In the course -> click on External Learning Tools -> Select the CN ePortfolio LTI1.3 tool.
2. It’s now available in the course, you may click on the tool to access it. Clicking this tab will open the corresponding CN course. After logging in, users can access their ePortfolio course interface.
