Immersive Reader

The CN platform has integrated Microsoft Immersive Reader to make the platform more accessible. It helps young learners and learners with reading differences (e.g. Dyslexia) access course text content.

Who has access to the tool?

Since Microsoft charges for the use of this tool, only users of licensed institutions that have purchased this feature can access the tool. Institutions that are interested in making this tool available to their members may reach out to the CN team for more information. Individual users could upgrade to a Premium CN account to access this tool. 

Access the tool

Currently, the Immersive Reader feature is only integrated with Pathway course Activities.

Both instructors and students can click the "Immersive Reader" link on the top right of each activity to access the tool.

Main features 

First, you may click the play button to have the text read out to you. Some voice setting options are also available. 

On the top right, the first icon allows you to change text size, font, background colors, etc. 

The second icon allows you to color-code specific components of the passage. 

The last icon provides line focus, Picture Dictionary, and translation options.
