Time display based on the user's local time
In most places on CN, the system records and displays time stamps based on the user's local time. Examples of these places are assignment due dates, event dates, post-creation dates, etc. CN identifies a user's local time based on two things:
1. The time zone setting in the About section on their CN profile/ePortfolio.
2. Their computer's time/timezone setting. The screenshot below is taken on a Mac computer.
So, when time displays in CN seem incorrect, such as assignment due dates being different than the instructor has indicated, it is important for the user to check into these two places and make sure the settings accurately reflect their location.
Time display in UTC/GMT
Some time information in CN, especially for analytics, is displayed in UTC+00:00 time. In this case, there is a UTC/GMT label to indicate the standard timezone.
