In CN, you are not only able to communicate with your classmates and instructors, but also have the opportunity to interact with Global Classmates and Instructors (learners and scholars who are from similar courses on CN). We encourage you to give the Global Class feature a try to see opinions from people outside of your class and extend your academic network.
This article will show you how to network with Global Classmates and Instructors in two parts: 1. how to post to Global Class (you create content to contribute to the global community). 2. View Global Posts and interact with Global Classmates and Instructors.
Part1: Post to Global Class
STEP1: Click on the post, poll or event button at the top of the page and type content
STEP2: For the visibility settings, select “This Course and Global Class” from the drop-down menu and submit
HINT: If you post course-specific content, choose the visibility setting "This Course"; if you are posting non-course specific content, share it with your Global Classmates, choose "This Course and Global Class". We also suggest using hashtags to label your discussion topics. This will help global peers easily find posts that interest them.
Part2: View Global Posts and Interact with Global Peers
By default, you are on the Course/My Class post feed. To look at Global Posts, you need to switch to the Global Class post feed.
STEP1: In CN Post, find the post filter area, click on "My Class”, then from the drop down, select “My Global Class”
STEP2: Then easily view, rate, and reflect on Global Posts.
Hover over a post creator's name to follow, send an email, or visit their CN profile/ePortfolio
HINT: If you follow a Global Classmate, you will have a better chance to see the person's posts on your Global Post feed in the future.
You do NOT earn course seeds when you interact with Global Classmates and Instructors. The seeds will be counted toward your Total seeds throughout the entire CN, not on a specific course.
