CourseNetworking (CN) allows CN Channel admins to manually bulk create and update users through CSV upload. Please follow the guide below to prepare your CSV file and upload/update the users.
Note: before beginning import users, you want to 1. set up the Welcome Email Template. Users receive this welcome email right after you are imported. 2. create user labels if you are going to include user labels on the CSV file.
Prepare CSV File

Upload the CSV File to Import/Update Users
Once the Welcome email template and user CSV file are ready, you can follow the steps below to import/update users.
Step1: Go to User Management. Click on the CSV Import/Update Users link.
Step2: You will have two options for your CSV import:
- Create new users as well as update existing user data.
- If you want to make any updates to existing Channel users, choose this option. If your CSV file has any new users on it, they will also be created during this process. Please note that some of your users may have updated some of their own information, so any of your changes will override their changes.
- Only create new users. Do NOT update existing user data.
- Use this option if you only want to create new users. If you have existing users in your CSV file still, they will be ignored. This is a good way to prevent overriding users’ changes to their own profiles.
Step3: After you’ve selected your import preference, click on the Proceed with Import button.
Step4: The file uploader window will pop up. You can select your CSV file to upload by clicking on browse, or you can drag-and-drop the file into the uploader. Continue by clicking the Add Files button.
Step5: Users that are successfully imported will automatically be added to the User Management table below the CSV Import/Update Users section.
If your CSV file contains any errors, you will find them listed in another table at the top with the errors indicated. You can correct these errors one by one by clicking on the pencil icon in the Actions column. Once errors are corrected, they will automatically be added to the User Management table.
